Students that are registered for Northern Michigan University classes and have tuition paid are eligible to have a laptop assigned.
Students will be issued a laptop that is 4 years old or less. Art & Design and Theatre & Dance majors will be issued an Apple laptop that is 4 years old or less.
Registered students considered part-time (less than 12 credits for undergraduates or less than 8 credits for graduate students) will be assessed a TLC opt-in fee of $385.00 when a computer is issued. The TLC fee is charged to the student's NMU account. Art & Design and Theatre & Dance majors receive a $250 fee per semester to cover the higher cost of the Apple laptop and additional software.
Fall semester laptop distribution is held at the beginning of each semester during Northern Kick-Off at the Northern Center. Eligible students will be notified via their NMU email account in mid-August with distribution information. Continuing students will also be notified via their NMU email account if they will be required to exchange their current laptop for another model.
