Sending a screen shot
Sending a copy of your screen to support staff is a great way to accurately record what you see on the screen and any error messages that are displayed. Using the "PrtSc" key in Windows or the "Command" + "Shift" + "3" key combination on a MacBook gets the entire screen, including the time and date displayed which helps support staff determine what other things might have caused the error.
- To send a screen shot, when the message is on the screen press the "PrtSc" key in Windows or the "Command" + "Shift" + "3" key combination on a MacBook to capture the current screen and save it to the clipboard. The "PrtSc" key is to the right of the space bar on most ThinkPads and on the upper right of most external keyboards.
- From there you can either paste the screenshot into an email message or a Microsoft Word document by using the "Paste" function (holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing the "V" key in Windows or "Command" + "V" key combination on a MacBook). If you saved it as a Word document you could then send the document as an attachment.
