MyNMU Tiles Not Working

There are times when MyNMU's tiles may exhibit some strange or unusual behavior (spins, never loads, gets stuck), and this is typically due to some stored browser data. This means the solution is to essentially clear the browser's cache, cookies, and any other related site data. After you have followed the steps below, re-open the MyNMU App on your mobile device (or the MyNMU website on your computer) and verify the tiles are working again.


Google Chrome

  1. Select the three dots in the top right corner of the browser. 
  2. Select the option that says "Delete browsing data...".

  3. At the top of the window that opens up, make sure the "Advanced" tab is selected (it will appear with an underline). 
  4. Make sure "Time Range" is set to "All time".
  5. Select the following items: "Cookies and other site data", "Cached images and files", and "Site settings". You do not have to select your "History" or "Download History".

    We see in the previous screenshot that "Site Settings" does not show up right away. Use the scroll bar by clicking it and dragging it down to locate "Site Settings" before proceeding to step 6 (selecting "Delete data").

  6. Select "Delete data" upon completion of Step 5.
     

Firefox:

  1. Open the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the browser.
  2. Locate the "Settings" option and open it.

  3. On the left hand, locate the "Privacy & Security" tab and open it.

  4. Scroll down till you locate "Cookies and Site Data". Open "Clear Data...".

  5. For the "When" field make sure it says "Everything. Select and make sure the boxes that say "Cookies and site data", "Temporary cached files and pages", and "Site settings" have the check mark showing next to them.

  6. Select "Clear" when everything listed in Step 5 is selected for deletion.

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Click the three dotted menu at the top right corner of the browser.
  2. Select "Delete browsing data...".

  3. In the Window that opens up, select the arrow under "Time range" and select "All time". Then make sure that the check box is checked for "Cookies and other site data", "Cached images and files", and "Site permissions".

    To find "Site permissions" you will need to click the scroll bar at the right of the menu, and drag it down.

  4. Select "Clear now".

Android

Note: settings may vary from device to device as each manufacturer may customize Android to be slightly different.

  1. Open up the "Settings" app and locate "Apps".

  2. Once "Apps" is opened up, scroll down or search for MyNMU. 
    Inside the "Apps" setting, locate the "MyNMU" app from the list:
  3. If the option to "Force stop" the app is available (not grayed out) select it and accept any warning it may give.

  4. Find "Storage & cache" and select it after force stopping it in the previous step.
  5. Select "Clear storage" and then "Clear cache". Accept any prompts that appear.

    Note: as a result of the steps above, the MyNMU app may ask that you sign in to it again upon re-opening it.

iOS
Option One:

  1.  Locate the MyNMU App on your home screen.
  2. Select it and hold down so that it doesn't open. A menu should show up with an option that says "Remove App".
  3. After selecting "Remove App" you will possibly get another menu that will ask you if you want to actually remove it, or to just hide the icon (remove from home screen). You are going to want to press the option that says "Delete App".
  4. After that, you are going to want to turn your device off, and then back on. This mary vary device to device, so easiest way may just be to open up the settings app, navigate to general, and select "Shut down".

    Scroll down after opening the general menu until you find "Shutdown":
  5. After it shuts down, turn it back on by holding down on the power button until you see the Apple Logo.
  6. Find the App Store, open it, and search for MyNMU.

    Enter MyNMU in the search bar, and scroll down until you find the MyNMU app. Press the cloud with the down arrow to reinstall it, or the "Get" button if that appears instead:
  7. Once it finishes downloading and reinstalling, locate the MyNMU app and open it. Log back in to MyNMU, and open the tiles that may have previously been not working to verify they work. If the tiles are still not working, move on to Option Two.

Option Two:

Note: as a result of this process, you will lose all of your web history and any open tabs inside the Safari app on your device. You may want to open them up and save their links in another place to re-visit them at a later time.

  1. Open the "Settings" App, and locate "Apps" inside the settings. Scroll down or search for Safari.

  2. Scroll down after opening the "Apps option" and Select Safari.

  3. Scroll down until you locate the header, "HISTORY AND WEBSITE DATA".

  4. Press "Clear History and Website Data". 
  5. Where it says "CLEAR TIMEFRAME" select "All history" and make sure the checkmark is next to it.

  6. Press the button that says "Clear History".
    Note: this will sign you out of any websites you may have previously signed into in Safari. This will also sign you out of MyNMU.
