Web Services
Your web folder must be called "pub" and can be accessed by typing http://myweb.nmu.edu/~your_id *the tilde (~) is required before your user ID. The folder name "pub" will not be used in your web address. The webserver already knows to look in that folder for web documents. Any folder underneath the pub folder will need to be included in their web address.
The default document the webserver looks for in your pub folder can be named any of the following:
- index.html
- default.html
- default.htm
- home.htm
- home.html
- HOME.HTML
- INDEX.HTML
- DEFAULT.HTML
File names are case sensitive on MyWeb. EX: index.html and Index.Html and any other mixed (or unmixed) file names are considered different files.
CGI functionality (such as ASP or FrontPage Extensions) will not be offered on MyWeb.
CAUTION!!: Anything placed in the pub folder (or any subfolder) is accessible from the web! (Not a good place to keep anything private!)
FTP Services
To access MyWeb for file management you can use any FTP client (such as WS-FTP and Fetch) or My Network Places
You will need to use myweb.nmu.edu as the hostname, your user ID and your password (user ID's and passwords are all lowercase!)
When uploading web pages be sure to put them in your "pub" folder!
