Using NMU Drive to Backup Computer

NMU Drive / NextCloud

1.     To create your drive, you need to login to https://nmudrive.nmu.edu/

           You must login to the site first to create your drive

2.     Download and install the Nextcloud client on your device from their website: https://nextcloud.com/install/

3.    Click on Nextcloud files

4.     Choose your client to download

 

5.     For Windows, click the down arrow and double-click the downloaded file to start the client installation.

 

6. Click “Next”

7.    Click “Next” again

 

8.    Click “Install”

 


 

9.    Click “Finish” You will need to restart your computer.

 

10. This screen should open. Select “Login”. 

 

11. Enter the server address. https://nmudrive.nmu.edu and click next.


 

12. This screen should appear.  Click Open Browser

13. Click log in

13. Login with your NMU credentials.




 

 

14. You will be asked to grant access.


 

15. Note the local folder where things will be synced

 

16. Alternatively, you can choose which files to sync if preferred.

 

17. Press Connect when you’re ready to begin the syncing. 

 

18 Now to back up files, make a copy of any files on the computer the user wants to keep. Typically, this is: 

  1. Desktop - AKA: Home Screen
  2. Documents
  3. Downloads 
  4. Pictures
  5. Videos
  6. Music

 

19. When files in the Nextcloud folder are synced with the “cloud,” they will show up with a green check mark.
