The Syllabus Tool

The Syllabus Tool in WebCT allows you to use a built-in syllabus tool or to upload a syllabus file that you create on your local computer.To upload a syllabus file:

1. Log into your course.

2. Under the Build tab and under Course Tools, click Syllabus.

3. In the Syllabus window, click the radio beside Use File.

4. Click Select.

5. Under Select Syllabus, click Browse...

6. A new window will pop-up, click the My Computer icon.

7. Locate your syllabus file from your local computer, highlight it, then click Open. Wait.

8. When the file is finished loading, the screen will return to Syllabus screen.

9. If your syllabus file is a web page (.htm or .html) file you will be able to view the file under Preview. If the syllabus file is a word document, you will be prompted to either Open, Save or Cancel to the file.

(REMINDER: Word Documents are not web pages. In order for students to view these pages, each will need to have Microsoft Word on their local computer.)

To use the built-in syllabus tool:

1. Log into your course.

2. Under the Build tab and under Course Tools, click Syllabus.

3. In the Syllabus window, click the radio beside Use built-in syllabus.

4. The Section Instructor will already be listed.

Other items you can add include:

  • Course Requirements
  • Custom HTML
  • Goals
  • Lesson
  • Other
  • Policies
  • Resources

Use as many of these items as you wish. As you create each item, save the changes at the bottom of the screen.
