Mange Course

Under Build - Designer Tools or Teach - Instructor Tools, is the option to change the course look and function using Manage Course. In Manage Course you have the options:

Tools Select the tools to use in the course
Course Menu Determine tools will be visible to the students and the order the be displayed
Colors Select colors for course appearance
Course Content Icons Select style icons for use in the course
Settings

Change the operation of some specific tools.
(NOTE: Many settings are locked, so changes cannot be made)

Import Ability to add context to the course such as e-packs
Backup Ability to create a backups of the course
Course Preview Page Setup Ability to post one file available to anyone outside of WebCT
Date Rollover Adjust dates for items in the course

Course URL

Direct log-in to the specific course

Tools:

  1. Click to check the box to the left of each tool you wish to use in your course.
  2. Click Save Course Menu
General Settings -
  • Course Menu - Display text, icons or bothCourse Menu Orientation - Vertical or Horizontal
  • Course Content Map - Display as Icon or Drop Down Menu or Do Not Display
Visibility to Students -
  1. Click the toggle Hide/Show Link for each tool
  2. Click Add Custom Link if desired (Optional)
  3. Click Apply Settings
Colors
  • Six (6) color presets are available for use or choose custom to create you own color scheme.
Course Content Icons - Select from:
  • Casual
  • Casual Transparent
  • Formal
  • Photo
  • Photo Transparent (Recommended)
  • WebCT
Settings
  • All WebCT functions are located here and some can be altered at the Designer/Instructor level but most settings are set to support the entire campus.
Import
  • Content from other courses and publisher's e-packs can be added through this function
Backup
  • Designer/Instructors may backup courses at any time but only a limited number of backups can be made.
Course Preview Page Setup
  • One file may be loaded into the Public Folder under Manage Files which can be viewed by anyone. You do not have to be enrolled in the course to see this file. Possible options for the file to be loaded are a sample syllabus or a sample schedule of course activities.
Date Rollover
  • Provides the ability to set a specific date to release all course information to the students or to set dates for specific items in specific tools such as Discussions, Assessments, and Assignments.
Course URL
  • Lists the specific url for the course. One still must log-in. (Not recommended for every day use.)
