Assignments

The Assignment tool allows instructors to request and receive papers from students. To create an assignment: Under the Build tab click Assignments.Click the Create Assignment button.Type a title for the Assignment.Type a Description if you wish but be careful not to confuse the Description from the Instructions. The Assignment will be hidden until you determine who it will be released to (students individually or student groups).Type the Instructions. You may include attachment(s).Under Student submission format you have the option of selecting

  1. Text with attachments (can be more than one file)
  2. Web site (.zip file with files with relative links and the students will have to identify the homepage)

Select who should receive the assignments (If using groups, set the groups in the Group Manager under the Teach tab first.) Select the date and time the assignment is due, you may include a corresponding note on the Calendar, WebCT will do this for you. Select a Cutoff Date and Time. Select the checkbox if you wish to grade this assignment. If you wish to alter the assignment's name or change the name for the Grade Book do that next. Click to check the box if you wish the grade released to the students in the My Grades tool. Select if the grade is the be numeric and type in the maximum grade, alphanumeric or grading form. Under More Options Check if you wish to allow students to take back their assignment and modify it. Publishing options allows for sharing of assignments completed including student presentations. Select who can publish the assignment.Section Instructor Notification - It is recommended you click "Do not send e- mail..." You will be able to view submissions in the Assignment Dropbox. A star beside Assignment Dropbox in the Teach tab will be an indication that new assignments have been submitted. Click Save.
