Obtaining an Electronic Roster and saving it to MS Excel

1. Go to http://myweb.nmu.edu/faculty
2. Log-in
3. Click Class Rosters
4. Select semester in the drop down menu and click Semester.
5. Click Options.
6. In the Available Fields box are the identifiers available to be downloaded. These include:
7. In the Selected Fields box will be listed the items you select (lastname, firstname init and uid are the default).
8. To add to the Selected Fields box click to highlight an item in the Available Fields box.
9. Use the => arrow to add that item to the Selected Fields.
10. Once you have selected the items you wish in the Selected Fields box you can reorder them by using the up/down arrows to the right of the box.
11. Now that you have the items you want in the order you want in the Selected Fields box click Cancel.
12. Select the semester again, and click one of the sequence number buttons. The new screen displays your requested items in the order you selected in a comma delimited webpage.
13. Download this list by clicking File > Save As...
14. On the Save Web Page screen click Yes.
15. On the next Save Web Page window change the location of the Save in: box to whereever you wish to save the file. Change File name: to something you will recognize and change Save as type: to Text File (.txt)
16. Open MS Excel and click File > Open.
17. Change the Look in: box to the location of where you saved the file.
18. Change the Files of type: to Text Files.
19. Locate the file in the Open window, click to highlight, click Open.
20. In part 1 of the Text Import Wizard check that Delimited has a dot in the radio button, click Next
21. In part 2 of the Text Import Wizard, change the delimiter to Comma, click Next.
22. Click Next.
23. Click Finish.
24. Your Excel file is now ready.
25. Save the Excel file.
